10 things that an Indian student studying in US can relate to
1. Bland food
We all craved eating food like we saw on sitcoms or in movies. But when you eat the food here for the first time, the only word that comes to mind is BLAND.

2. Time zone difference
Whenever you call someone in India to have an emotional talk, the first question you have to answer is “what time is it there?”

3. Greeting everyone
Something to get used to: people here greet strangers on the street as a matter of course.

4. Pedestrians being treated like queens and kings
We are denied our skill of crossing roads with full-blown traffic.

5. Becoming a human calculator
Converting everything from USD to INR and feeling abysmally poor, trying to save every last penny.

6. Cultural shock
Although we’re up to date with American culture, witnessing it first hand is just mind-blowing.

7. Buying groceries for the first time
An entire aisle for cereal. Nobody prepares you for the cereal aisle.

8. Doing assignments on your own, every day
No group of classmates cramming together the night before. Just you, alone, with the deadline.

9. Washing utensils and missing our maid back in India
A whole new appreciation, arrived at the hard way.

10. And in the end, I have to mention “shit” troubles
Your stomach takes its time adjusting to a new country’s food. Nobody warns you about this one either.
